From April 11 to 13, in response to repeated requests by numerous disciples, Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa bestowed the Nyungne transmission according to the tradition of Gelongma Palmo. Over seven hundred students from all corners of the globe attended this transmission, which was organised by the Palpung Institute for Buddhist Studies at the Leela Ambience Convention Hotel in Delhi, India. Guru Vajradhara began by conferring the empowerment of the Protector of the World Avalokiteshvara connected to the Nyungne sadhana. He then recounted the inspiring life story of Gelongma Palmo and how she attained supreme realisation through the Nyungne fasting practice. Following that, Guru Vajadhara gave a detailed explanation of the eight Nyungne vows: the object from whom we can receive them, the manner and appropriate time for receiving them, how to observe the vows after having taken them, as well as reasons and benefits of each precept. He also spoke about the meaning of the six syllable OM MANI PEME HUNG mantra, which is the essence of all teachings, and gave many other meaningful and detailed essential instructions, which inspired and opened the minds of all disciples and awakened the virtuous seed of liberation in them.
