On August 14 and 15, Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa conferred the empowerment, reading transmission and instructions of Yuthok Nyingthig Guru Yoga, a cycle of profound pure visions of Yuthok Yonten Gonpo, as well as the empowerments of the five families of Manjushri and Sarasvati. This two-day transmission was given to all students of the Palpung Univeristy of Buddhist Sciences, especially to those who had completed their medicine and astrology studies as a preparation to support the retreat they are going to undertake based on these cycles of teachings. Guru Vajradhara also gave them an extensive teaching about the sciences of medicine and astrology. He explained that in order for those sciences to actually be effective and beneficial, mere intellectual study and practical application are not sufficient, and that it is essential to also complete the practices and meditations of the Dharma transmissions from which they originate.
