On September 25th, 2009 Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat conducted a grand Monlam prayer headed by Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa with many Rinpoches, Khenpos, Lamas, monks and nuns. The Monlam Prayer, which included a ten-thousand lamp offering, is dedicated to the victims of the recent earthquake in the Kingdom of Bhutan. The earthquake caused loss of life as well as damage to many monasteries and the collapse of many home in Bhutan and as such has caused a great deal of suffering for many people.

This Monlam is also dedicated to global peace and for those who've lost their lives in both man-made and natural disasters around the world. Most importantly, it is dedicated to bringing about real peace and harmony on this planet through the subduing of causes for all kinds of suffering including disasters, sickness, wars and the emotional states that cause them.
