On the 11th of June 2014, upon hearing the sad and tragic news of the passing away of Shamar Rinpoche, Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa came out of retreat and instructed special prayers to be performed.

On the sacred day of the 13th of June 2014 and the third day after the passing of the late Shamar Rinpoche, Guru Vajradhara along with tulkus, khenpos, lamas and monks and nuns performed special prayers and lit 10,000 butter lamps for the late Shamar Rinpoche in the main assemble court of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat.
