In this world, we have a lot of natural and manmade disasters happening- like the gas explosion in Taiwan, landslides in Nepal and India, crashing of air planes and the many wars taking place in Asia, Africa, Europe and the other parts of the world.

These sad incidents cause a lot of damages to the lives of our fellow living beings and to the environment. As most of these disasters are caused by us – human beings, remedy lies in becoming more responsible at every level - from our conduct to our intentions and positive actions, so that such terrible catastrophic disasters are not repeated.

Recently, in Taiwan, the major gas explosion, which shook the street of Kaohsiung, where a number of lives were lost and many injured. It also affected and changed the lives of all the family members who lost their near and dear ones.

Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat of Vajrayana Buddhism in India, all our eminent Rinpoches, Khenpos,Lamas and our Sangha members of monks and nuns offered prayers and lit ten thousand butter lamps. These prayers and lamps were dedicated for those who had lost their lives in the tragedy, for them to find their way to the Pure Land of Buddha so that they can have a better rebirth. We also offered prayers for those who were injured and hope they have a smooth and quick recovery. Prayers were dedicated for the family members affected by the disaster, so that they are able to come out of this pain of loss and suffering.

Lastly, I pray that such disaster does not occur in any part of the world and may all have a healthy and happy life, and that there may be active and living peace in this world.

Yours in Holy Dharma
