On the 6th of July 2015 under the blessing of Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, Rinpoches, Khenpos, monks, nuns and lay devotees of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat organized the most auspicious 80th Birthday celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama the Buddha of Compassion (Avalokiteshovara ).

In the morning at 8:00 am in the main shrine hall of Palpung Sherabling, Sangha performed elaborate prayers and offered the traditional mandala, Body, Speech and Mind offerings followed with scarf offerings by all of the sangha to the throne of His Holiness Dalai Lama as they were reciting the long life prayer of His Holiness. Meanwhile, traditional tea and saffron rice were also served.

Two main events followed the traditional prayer ceremony. Firstly, 500 trees were planted at the same time on the same day by 500 monks and nuns to contribute to the environment. Trees help in improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil and providing oxygen to support the lives of all living beings.

Secondly, a free eye camp was organized at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat, screening patients starting from 9:00am to 3:00 pm that day. Patients who needed surgery were sent to Rotary Eye Hospital in Maranda (H.P) with all the expenses born by Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh.

All the dharma activities, environmental and social service activities of this day from Palpung Sherabling Monastic seat were dedicated purely for the long life of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso and for his Buddha activities to flourish continuously to benefit all sentient beings till every one reaches Buddhahood.
