On April 2, Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa gave a teaching on mindfulness to an audience of four hundred participants, which included many important Indian dignitaries, academics and scholars as well as the President of the Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay. The teaching was requested and organized by the organizers of the Cultural Festival of Tibet at the India International Centre in New Delhi.

Guru Vajradhara spoke about the essential meaning, classifications and sources of the teachings on mindfulness. He then explained mindfulness as having three characteristics: remembering why we are doing what we are doing; performing all activities of our body, speech and mind knowingly; and always being conscientious. He emphasized that these characteristics of recollection, vigilance and conscientiousness are the foundation of all short- and long-term well-being and that especially in these modern, turbulent times, it is essential that we all rely on mindfulness. He also explained a practical method of mindfulness meditation by first focusing on our body, then on our feelings, on our mind and finally, on all phenomena.
