The Lord of the Mandala, Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, bestowed the third year of the Mahamudra Ocean of Definitive Meaning Transmission, which is the quintessence of all sutras, tantras and pith instructions. One thousand international students from over forty different countries attended this precious transmission, which was requested by numerous disciples from all over the world and organized by the Palpung Institute for Buddhist Studies at the Leela Ambience Convention Hotel in Delhi, India, from April 1 to 8. Guru Vajradhara first completed the teachings and meditations of the last four of the twelve foundational practices of the Mahamudra Ocean of Definitive Meaning. After that, he began the transmission of the actual practice, which consists of two parts: shine or calm abiding and lhakthong or superior insight. Guru Vajradhara combined the teachings and meditations on the body posture, essential points of the mind, and several other shine methods, with pith instructions of his Masters and his own experience, thus making the teachings clear and easy to understand. In this year’s profound transmission, Guru Vajradhara offered clear, extensive and complete guidance, clearing any doubts with in depth examinations of difficult points of each section and explanations of both direct as well as implicit meanings of the instructions.
