Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa arrived at Bodhgaya in order to bestow a cycle of Karma Kamtsang empowerments and meditation instructions.

On the morning of November 14, Guru Vajradhara was welcomed at Gaya Airport by the Gaya Airport authorities, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche and representatives of Rumtek Shedrub Chokhor Ling, Tergar Monastery and Kagyu Monlam Trust, who then accompanied him to Tergar Monastery, where an elaborate traditional welcoming procession was arranged by Rumtek Monastery. Guru Vajradhara was welcomed by ceremonial music, which was played on the roof of the main temple, and a long line of Kagyu Tulkus, Lamas, Khenpos, and thousands of monks, nuns and lay devotees holding white scarves, flowers and incense, which extended from the main temple all the way to the second welcome gate.

At 8 am on November 15, Guru Vajradhara visited the sacred Mahabodhi Temple, where he was welcomed at the main gate by Mr. N. Dorjee, Secretary of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee, the Temple’s Head Monk and the Kagyu MP Lama Sotop. Guru Vajradhara first paid homage to the Buddha Shakyamuni statue, the main image within the Mahabodhi stupa. After offering a new set of robes to the Buddha statue and filling the alms bowl, he performed the ritual of offering and aspiration prayers for remembering the kindness of the Buddha.
