On May 15th, 2008 the School of Tibetan medicine, astrology, grammar, poetry and Sanskrit opened. The school was officially given the name Palpung Rigney Lobling (Palpung Buddhist Sciences College) by Kenting Tai Situpa at the opening, where he gave advice to teachers and students. A special team of monks and lay men has been selected to focus on these traditional subjects. All the ten aspects of knowledge in Tibetan Buddhism were well established by the blessing of 8th Tai Situ Choekyi Jungney at Palpung Thubten Choekhor Ling in Derge 300 years ago when the Palpung Congregation became very important for Buddhism. Under the blessings of the current 12th Kenting Tai Situpa, Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat in Himachal Pradesh, India is actively working to re-establish and preserve all ten branches of knowledge and wisdom in Buddhism and to uphold the pure tradition of the Palpung Congregation. The main teacher appointed for Palpung Rigney Lobling is the GEN SHERAB NYIMA, a well-known professor of Tibetan Literature. The main teacher for Tibetan Medicine and Astrology is Doctor Sonam Rinchen.
