As part of Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa’s community service activities, free eye camps are organised at different remote locations in the Himalayan region every year by the Palpung Sherabling Health Centre with permission from the Ministry of Health, Government of Himachal Pradesh. This year, the free surgical eye camp was stationed at the Kaza Civil Hospital in Lahaul, Spiti, from 23th to 25th June 2018.

Lama Tashi Dhondup, the head of Palpung Sherabling Health Centre, travelled to Kaza, the capital of Spiti, with a complete medical team from the Rotary Eye Hospital in Maranda, Palampur (H.P.), headed by expert eye surgeons Dr Rohit Sharma and Dr Siddarth.

This year, the team checked a total of 427 people from the Spiti region and distributed free spectacles and medicines. 22 patients had eye surgery and 180 people received glasses. Thus, a great number of local villagers were able to receive the necessary treatment and counselling for different vision-related problems, which considerably improved the quality of their lives.
