Address at the World Peace Through Non-Violence Conference in Mumbai

On September 30, 2018, H.H. the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa attended the "World Peace Through Non-Violence" conference, which took place at the esteemed Bombay Stock Exchange Auditorium in Mumbai. The function was organized by Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti.

Spiritual leaders on the dais comprised of H.H. Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni Ji, Founder President of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti, H.H. Syedna Taher Fakhruddin Saheb, Head of the Dawoodi Bohra Community, and other esteemed representatives and leaders of various social endeavors.

In his address, H.H. the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa emphasized the definition of the sacred word "non-violence" and its relevance for the humanity and for the environment. He pointed out that harmony is peace and disharmony is violence, therefore ahimsa or non-violence is a synonym for harmony and peace.

On this occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, His Holiness also spoke at length about "Bapu", as he was affectionately called by the nation, as the most prominent leader of the non-violence (ahimsa) movement in the 20th century.

His Holiness also quoted a number of Mahatma Gandhi's own words, such as:

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony," and "Anger is the enemy of non-violence and pride is a monster that swallows it up."
