On December 20 2018, thirty monks and nuns entered a three-year retreat at the two retreat centers of the Naropa tradition at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat. Nineteen monks began the eighth batch of the monks' retreat and eleven nuns started the ninth batch of the nuns' retreat. Both sets of retreatants will practice the Six Yogas of Naropa, meditate according to Maitripa's Mahamudra instructions, as well as several Tantras that were transmitted by Lord Marpa. In addition, they will practice all the meditations, recitations and mantra accumulations of numerous old and new Tantras, and meditate on the general stages of both the path of means and the path of liberation. With joyous determination and the commitment to practice diligently, they set up the retreat boundary and began their three years and three months retreat with aspirations and prayers for experiences and realization to develop and progress.
