In accordance with the vision of Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa and with permission from the Government of Himachal Pradesh Ministry of Health, free eye camps are organised every year at different locations in the Himalayan region by Palpung Sherabling Health Centre. This year, Lama Tashi Dhondup, the head of Palpung Sherabling Health Centre, along with a complete medical team from the Rotary Eye Hospital in Maranda, Palampur, headed by specialist eye surgeons Dr Rohit Sharma and Dr Siddarth, travelled to Pooh, Kinnaur, where the free surgical eye camp was held from May 28 to 31. The team checked a total of 856 people from the Pooh area as well as the entire Upper Kinnaur region for eye diseases and distributed free medicines. 42 patients required eye surgery and 372 received appropriate eyeglasses. Thus, a large number of local villagers with various vision-related problems affecting the quality of their lives were able to receive necessary treatment.
