From December 25 2019 to January 4 2020, the Palpung University of Buddhist Sciences Annual Examinations were conducted under the supervision of its teachers, who have themselves mastered the knowledge of Tibetan Buddhist sciences in general and especially of the medical and astrological sciences. For eleven days, the medical students sat for written, oral and drawing exams on the Exposition Tantra, one of the Four Medical Tantras, while the astrology students sat for written exams on: general knowledge of astrological systems and their practical application; calculation of astronomical events related to the sun, moon, planets and stars; methods of compiling the calendar; as well as oral exams on root texts of astrology and divination. The examination also included tests on difficult points of medicine, astrology and Tibetan grammar, such as "Situ Zhalung" and other root texts and commentaries on grammar and spelling.
