On 26th June 2020, the 35th birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje was celebrated at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat and its branch Palpung Yeshi Rabgye Ling Nunnery.

The celebration ceremonies began at 9 am at the main shrine halls with Tulkus, Khenpos, Lamas and monastics in charge reciting the Prayer of the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones, which was followed by an offering of a mandala along with representations of body, speech and mind in front of a sacred image of His Holiness, a tea and sweet rice offering and long life prayers. Everyone offered a white ceremonial scarf to Gyalwang Karmapa’s sacred image which liberates upon being seen. To commemorate the 17th Karmapa’s birthday, monks and nuns also planted many different kinds of medicinal trees.

At 3 pm, in view of the current situation where large gatherings are not recommended, contemporary birthday celebrations with cakes and sweets, along with chanting verses of auspiciousness, were held separately at each department of the Monastic Seat and Nunnery.
