On July 6 2020, the 85th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was celebrated at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat and its branch Palpung Yeshe Rabgye Ling Nunnery.

The celebration ceremonies began at 9 am with Tulkus, Khenpos, Lamas and monastics in charge reciting the Prayer of the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones, which was followed by an offering of a mandala along with representations of body, speech and mind in front of a sacred image of His Holiness, a tea and sweet rice offering and long life prayers. Everyone offered a white ceremonial scarf to His Holiness Dalai Lama’s sacred image which liberates upon being seen.

The monks and nuns also planted many kinds of medicinal trees as a long-life ritual for His Holiness to pacify outer, inner and secret obstacles and inauspicious omens, as well as for the flourishing of his enlightened activities.

At 3 pm, in view of the current situation where large gatherings are not recommended, contemporary birthday celebrations with cakes and sweets, along with chanting verses of auspiciousness, were held separately at each department of the Monastic Seat and Nunnery.
