November 7, the 22nd day of the 9th lunar month of the Iron Mouse year, marked the day of Buddha Shakyamuni’s return to Earth from the heaven, where he went at the age of forty-one to repay his mother’s kindness by teaching the Dharma for ninety days to her reincarnation and all the gods.
At 8 pm, the khenpos, acharyas, and the entire monastic community of Palpung YesheRabgye Ling Nunnery gathered at its main shrine hall, where clouds of offering substances had been arranged in front of its main Buddha Shakyamuni statue. Recollecting the kindness of our Teacher they recited the Praise of the Twelve Deeds with a beautiful melody, after which the nuns demonstrated their skills in debating about the great madhyamika view free from extremes. In this way, everyone enjoyed the excellent merit of recollecting the amazing qualities of the Buddha.
