At 7am on November 15, the auspicious new moon day of the 9th lunar month, after completing the purification rituals according to the monastic discipline and donning the traditional monastic attire, the entire monastic community of Palpung Yeshe Rabgye Ling Nunnery gathered in front of the main temple. With the attitude of renunciation and the motivation of bodhicitta, the nuns began the ritual of restoring and purifying the three sets of vows by circumambulating the temple three times while chanting the refuge prayer in Sanskrit language. In front of the sacred supports inside the temple, they continued with the meditations and recitations of all elements of the ritual, such as prostrations, offerings, praises, and confessions. They concluded by dedicating the merit of restoring the virtue and purifying negative actions and downfalls with “The Words of Truth: A Prayer for the Flourishing of the Non-sectarian Teachings of the Buddha” and “Maitreya’s Aspiration Prayer.”
