On July 6, 2021, the 86th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the supreme spiritual friend of all sentient beings, the master of non-sectarian teachings of the Buddha, and a great leader of world peace, was celebrated at the main shrine hall of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat.

The celebration ceremonies began at 9 am with tulkus, khenpos, lamas, directors, and staff of various departments of the monastic seat chanting verses of auspiciousness, which was followed by an offering of a mandala along with representations of body, speech, and mind in front of a sacred image of His Holiness, a tea and sweet rice offering, and long-life prayers. After that, everyone offered a white ceremonial scarf to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s sacred image, which liberates upon seeing.

The program continued with a contemporary birthday celebration including an offering of birthday cakes and sweets along with chanting auspicious verses. At the end, the monks planted various decorative and medicinal plants and trees, and distributed one-month food supplies to one hundred fifty disadvantaged local families, dedicating this virtuous activity for His Holiness’s longevity and for the flourishing of his enlightened activities.
