In accordance with the vision of Guru
Vajradhara H.H. the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, and with permission from
the Government of Himachal Pradesh Ministry of Health, free eye camps are organized
every year at different locations in the Himalayan region by Palpung Munishasan
Dharma Chakra Sangh.
This year, Lama Tashi Dhondup, the head of
the monastic seat’s Health Centre, along with a complete medical team from the
Rotary Eye Hospital in Maranda, Palampur, headed by specialist eye surgeons Dr
Rohit Sharma and Dr Ashish Gupta, travelled to Chango, Kinnaur, where the free
surgical eye camp was held from June 1 to 3, 2022.
The team checked a total of about 600
people from the Chango area as well as the entire Upper Kinnaur region for eye
diseases and distributed free medicines. 34 patients required eye surgery and
310 received appropriate eyeglasses. In this way, a large number of local
villagers with various vision-related problems affecting the quality of their
lives were able to receive necessary treatment.
