Guru Vajradhara Bestows the Chöd Empowerment upon the Incoming Retreatants On October 6, 2026, Guru Vajradhara His Holiness Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa bestowed the empowerment of the Chöd—the Profound Instructions on the Severance of Maras that Pacifies Suffering—upon the assembly of tulkus, khenpos, monks, and nuns preparing to enter the traditional three-year, three-fortnight retreat at the monks’ and nuns’ retreat centers of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat.

In conjunction with the empowerment, Guru Vajradhara graciously bestowed the precious hearing-lineage pith instructions of the Practice Lineage, providing complete and unmistaken guidance on how to apply oneself to the practices of the Six Yogas of Naropa, the path of means; the yogas of shamatha and vipashyana of Mahamudra, the path of liberation; the meditations of the creation and completion stages; the approach and accomplishment practices of yidam deities of the tantras of both the new and old traditions; and the virtuous practices of accumulating merit and purifying obscurations.
