At the first signs of dawn on March 7, the first day of the Tibetan new year 2146 in the sign of the Female Earth Pig, the entire Palpung Sherabling monastic community observed this auspicious beginning with a smoke offering puja, which included a ritual of summoning fortune and prosperity as well as offerings and praises to delight the four classes of guests. When the puja was completed, Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche along with resident and visiting Tulkus, Khenpos, Lamas, monks and nuns as well as Tibetan and international devotees who gathered for the occasion were seated in rows according to the traditional seating arrangement. After that, Guru Vajradhara arrived at the temple and everyone enjoyed an auspicious feast of ceremonial tea and sweet rice, along with traditional elaborate arrangements of food offerings. At the end, Guru Vajradhara concluded the joyful Female Earth Pig Losar celebration by giving individual blessings to everyone present.
