On March 12, at the request of Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery, Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa visited the nunnery, which is a branch of the Khampagar Monastery at Tashi Jong, where he was welcomed by an elaborate golden procession of nuns and escorted into the main temple. Headed by the Khenpo and Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, the entire community of nuns offered a mandala along with the three representations, and received blessings. After that, Guru Vajradhara gave a transmission of the 3rd Karmapa’s Mahamudra Aspiration Prayer to all the monastic and lay devotees who gathered for the occasion. Guru Vajradhara offered a profound transmission of secret oral instructions, which are the essence of both Sutras and Tantras and spoke about the origins of the special pure samaya connection between the monasteries of Palpung and Khampagar, which began at the time of Situ Panchen, the 8th Tai Situpa. He praised the activities of Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, whom he has known for a long time, related to the preservation and flourishing of the Buddha’s teachings, and then concluded the programme with aspirations and prayers for the development and thriving of all the study, practice and Dharma work at the nunnery.
