On March 17, to the delight of the Palpung University of Buddhist Sciences at the fulfilment of their wishes, Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa conferred the empowerment of Yuthok Nyingthig Guru Yoga, a cycle of profound pure visions of the King of Physicians Yuthok Yonten Gonpo, who composed the Four Medical Tantras, as well as the permission blessing of the supreme deity of wisdom Manjushri, Lion of Speech. To an audience of the University’s teachers, staff and students along with other faithful devotees, Guru Vajradhara also gave a teaching about the ten sciences in general, and specifically about the importance of the Tibetan sciences of medicine, astrology and grammar as well as about their origins and subsequent expansions. He emphasised that in order for the practices of these sciences to bring about their beneficial effects, it is not enough to merely implement the theoretical instructions, but that it is essential that they are supported by empowerments, reading transmissions, oral instructions and meditation practices of their respective Dharma cycles.
