On June 26 2019, the Tulkus, Khenpos, Lamas and the entire monastic community of Palpung Sherabling gathered together to celebrate the 34th birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje. The elaborate celebration ceremony began at 9 am at the main shrine hall of the Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat with the Prayer of the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones, followed by an offering of a mandala along with representations of body, speech and mind in front of a sacred image of His Holiness, a tea and sweet rice offering and long life prayers. Everyone offered a white ceremonial scarf to Gyalwang Karmapa's sacred image which liberates upon being seen. To commemorate the 17th Karmapa's birthday, the monks also planted many different kinds of medicinal trees. At 3 pm, the programme continued in the monastery courtyard with a contemporary birthday celebration including an offering of birthday cakes and sweets, which was concluded by chanting verses of auspiciousness.
