Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa regards as essential that for the traditional Tibetan sciences of medicine and astrology to become truly beneficial to society, those who specialise need to gain a deeper confidence in these fields by practicing meditations that form a crucial part of these cycles of teachings once they complete their studies and preliminary practical application.

With this in mind, Guru Vajradhara composed a new practice manual for the first batch of graduates who have completed their medicine and astrology studies at the Palpung University of Buddhist Sciences. This has instructions on how to practice the Dharma cycles of Yuthok Nyingthig Guru Yoga and Manjushri in a six month retreat, how to conduct daily meditation sessions and how to perform monthly rituals on special days of the lunar calendar. He also recently conferred the related empowerments, reading transmissions and instructions.

On September 1 2019, after completing the pujas for eliminating obstacles and closing the boundary for retreat, the physicians began the practices of the outer, inner and secret levels of the guru yoga of Yuthok Yonten Gonpo and the astrologers entered the Five Families Manjushri and Red Sarasvati retreat. These are both taking place at the Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat at the Mandala Retreat Centre that Reverses Lower Rebirth.
