On October 24, at the request of the International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB), Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa gave a talk to a group of over one hundred of its members from all over the world, headed by Mr. Sulak Siwarak, the founder of INEB, and the Chairman of the INEB Executive Committee. The event took place at the main shrine hall of the Palpung Sherabling Monastic College. Guru Vajradhara gave them general advice on how to make one's life meaningful, and spoke on the auspiciousness of this gathering of practitioners of all three yanas that manifested from the Buddha. He emphasized the importance of unity when serving to benefit all living beings and encouraged all members to continue with their beneficial activities. He also spoke about the importance of finding alternative ways to fulfil the needs of our society without causing great damage to the environment, and the need for this to be implemented both at the level of each individual human being that inhabits this planet, as well as at the level of large corporations in a way sensitive to the limited resources of the earth. Guru Vajradhara also emphasised the necessity of spreading the message of the way to achieve true happiness amongst all people, regardless of their religious beliefs. Finding happiness is the common aspiration of all sentient beings that can only be fulfilled by developing its causes – loving kindness, compassion and wisdom. He advised them to always do their best, and to follow the principles of sincerity, honesty and ability, as these qualities are essential for accomplishing all temporary and ultimate aims.
