About the teachings

As part of the 60th Birthday Celebrations of Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa from 9 – 11 March 2014, Guru Vajradhara was requested to give a one day overview of The Five Teachings of Lord Maitreya on the last day of the three day birthday celebration program. The teachings were given in Tibetan and English by Guru Vajradhara and translated into Chinese, French, Spanish and Russian.

About The Five Teachings of Lord Maitreya

The five teachings of Maitreya were entrusted to the great Indian practitioner, Asanga, in Tushita Heaven by Maitreya, the future Buddha. The five teachings are The Ornament of Realization (Abhisamayalamkara), Ornament of the Sutras (Sutralamkara), Discerning the Middle and the Extremes (Madhyanta Vibhanga), Discerning Dharmas and Dharmata (Dharmadharmata Vibhanga) and Light of Wisdom (Uttaratantra).

All audio files are the unedited audio recordings of the live teachings and so all versions include the teaching in the original Tibetan and English language.

About the teachings

At the request of a group of students who completed the six-year Mahamudra Ocean of Certainty course, Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa gave 6 days of teachings on Tilopa's Pith Instructions on Ganges Mahamudra (Mahamudra Gangama) at Terger Monastery in Bodhgaya, Bihar. These teaching were supportive transmissions for Mahamudra teachings previously given in the six year Mahamudra Ocean of Certainty course.

About Ganges Mahamudra

Ganges Mahamudra are profound instructions on mahamudra in twenty eight verses transmitted by the great mahapandita Tilopa to the siddha Naropa near the banks of the River Ganges upon the completion of his twelve austerities. Naropa transmitted the teachings in Sanskrit to the great Tibetan translator Marpa Lotsawa who made a translation of it into Tibetan at his village in Pullahari on the Tibet and Bhutan border.
