The relic temple was opened during the celebration week (during November 2000) to mark the 300th birthday of the 8th Kenting Tai Situpa (Chokyi Jugne). When the present twelfth Kenting Tai Situpa came to Bhutan in 1959 some of his relics and sacred objects were saved along with him. Amongst them is a precious relic of the VIII Kenting Tai Situpa.

The Kenting Tai Situpa had the wish to build a special relic golden stupa temple for the relic to act as a source of inspiration and blessing for the community.

The shrine hall houses a stupa for the relic. Two shrines housing separately statues of Maitreya and Guru Rinpoche stand backward the stupa on either side. Running alongside the stupa on either side are 3ft clay statues of the 28 Kenting Tai Situpas lineage(incarnations) in an elaborately carved wooden cabinet. On the wall backward the stupa is a thangkha of the VIII Kenting Tai Situpa.

This quiet place invites visitors to rest, contemplate, and regenerate their inspiration.
