Khenpo Tsultrim Namdak was born in 1968. At the age of eight, he went to a local school learning Tibetan, mathematics and Tibetan culture. At the age of 13 years, he become a monk, began to learn basic Buddhism and Practices. Later he went on a pilgrimage to Lhasa and Samye Monastery.

At the age of 16 years, he participated the 3 year retreat in Tashi Chochon Retreat Center. After the retreat, he went to Tacho Shedra studying advanced Buddhism from Khenchen Karma Tsedan for some years. Then he spent some more years under his Guru, Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, studying especially the Dzogchen of Nyingmapa.

After the learning in the shedra he returned Nangchen. He received transmissions and teachings from many great masters: from Kenting Tai Situpa the Treasury of Transmission, from Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche the Five Golden Dharmas of the Shangpa Lineage, from Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche many empowerments, from treasure revealer Pema Gyapo the essentials of Treasuries, from Karma Chagme Rinpoche of Neydo Kagyu the lineage of Neydo Kagyu. He also went to several monastic colleges learning viewpoints of different Buddhist schools. He went on a pilgrimage to India and learned teachings, mainly Gampopa's Dakpo Kagyu, from Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. He was enthroned Khenchen by Khenpo Pema Tsewang in Darjon Shedra.

In 1999, Khenpo Tsulnam Rinpoche went to Palpung Sherabling at the request of Palpung Sherabling and has taught in the Lungrig Jampal Ling Institute of Buddhist Studies up till now. Khenpo Rinpoche currently travels extensively in other countries yet kindly takes the position of Chief Abbot of Palpung Lungrig Jampal Ling Higher Buddhist Institute at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat and every year shares his time as much as he can and gives teachings and guides the Institute's administration.
